Writing and editorial services

We believe that whether our client requires a news release, a speech or a brochure, clarity and conciseness without unnecessary jargon are essential. This is especially imp­ortant when the material has to be made available in more than one language.

Flowery phrases seldom impress the aud­ience, do not translate satisfactorily from one language or culture to another, and fre­quently produce quite the opposite impress­ion to that intended. Witness some recent unfortunate and ill-advised comments by US President Bush about crusades and axes of evil.

A good speech for a corporate event or presentation puts your message across in a friendly, informative way, is easy to listen to and easily absorbed. Too many speeches sound stiff and over-formal because they are not written in a style suitable for reading aloud. We use our many years of experience in the electronic media to prepare speeches that make your listeners feel you are add­ressing them personally, rather than simply reading a press release. Whether your speech is serious or lighthearted, we can tailor it to your precise requirements.

Media training

In this age of instant communications it is important to understand how to get your message across in various media. Talking to a press reporter either informally or in a pre-arranged interview requires quite a different technique from that when appearing on radio or television. Similarly, the most care­fully crafted speech can only be as succ­essful as its delivery; a dull, flat speaker will render all our efforts meaningless. We can provide advice and training on handling these different situations.

Translation

Any company doing business in Hong Kong or China will at some time need translation between the two languages. We are able to call on experts in this field who will provide fast, accurate service, including technical translation.

In addition, we are often called upon to re­write clients' own rough translations from the Chinese into English suitable for international distribution or publication.
